Explain that the place where animals live is called a habitat. Explain that animals are adapted to live in their habitat.
Show students the four habitats on the worksheet. Elicit vocabulary: jungle, sea, snow/ice, desert.
Ask students to tell you what is the predominant colour of each habitat. Then ask them to colour accordingly.
Introduce vocabulary like: wet, warm, cold and hot. Mime meaning if necessary. Ask students to match adjectives with the different habitats.
Ask students to identify animals on the worksheet and tell you what colour they are. Ask students to colour pictures accordingly.
Then, ask students to match animals with habitats.
Once everyone has finished, ask students to move to exercise 2 of the worksheet: students read and circle the correct answer.
Follow up
Students are divided in groups. Each group creates a poster of the four habitats and adds more animals to them. Animals can be drawn or students can cut out pictures from magazines and stick them on the poster.
Once posters are completed, each group gives a presentation to the class on the animals they placed in each habitat.
Inspiring young learners to explore animal habitats through fun, interactive lessons fosters curiosity and a deeper connection to nature. With engaging activities, they gain valuable knowledge while enjoying the learning process.
